How do I set up two-factor authentication?

We are committed to helping you keep all of the information you store in Buildium as safe and secure as possible. As part of that effort, we will be requiring two-factor authentication on all user accounts at login in the coming weeks.

Two-factor authentication is a two step verification that adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring access to your phone to prove that it’s you logging in to your account.

You can enable two-factor authentication from the "My settings" page. It can be enabled for any manager user including staff, vendors, and owners.

Follow these steps to enable two-factor authentication:

  1. Navigate to the "My settings" page.
  2. Under the “Security” section, find "Two-Factor Authentication".
  3. Switch the toggle to “ON”.
  4. In the modal, enter your phone number (don't worry - you can change this number later).
  5. Select “Confirm”.
  6. Buildium will send you a one-time verification code to confirm your number.
  7. Enter the one verification code you received and click "Confirm".

Once two-factor authentication is set up, the next time you sign into Buildium you'll be able to choose between receiving your authentication code via text message or voice call. Simply enter your code and you're on your way.

Register a device:

Before entering your authentication code, you have the option to "Remember this device for 30 days." Selecting this option allows Buildium to remember the device you used during sign-in and bypass additional validation for 30 days.

Two-factor authentication requirements:

Keeping your account, data, and banking information secure is a top priority for us. Setting up two-factor authentication is a great way to keep protect your account because it relies on something only you should have access to - your phone.

We are requiring all users with access to EFTs to set up two-factor authentication before making any payments. In the coming weeks, we will be requiring all users to set up two-factor authentication to add an extra layer of security to your account.
