One of the great features of Buildium is the rental owner website. This topic explains how to invite rental owners to this website, block their access, and how to sign in as a rental owner if you need to see what they see.
Invite an individual rental owner to access their websiteShow
This option sends an email invitation to the rental owner. This email template is customizable.
- Navigate to Rentals > Rental owners.
- Click on the rental owner's name.
- On the rental owner's summary page, locate the Rental owner website section.
- Click Create account.
- Complete the form, then click Save.
Invite many rental owners to access their website at onceShow
This option sends an email invitation to the rental owner. This email template is customizable.
- Navigate to Settings > Users.
- Click on the Rental owner tab, then click Create website accounts.

Select the rental owners for whom you would like to create an account.
There's a select all link at the bottom of the list.

Click Create accounts.
Invite rental owners to access their website with a mailingShow
Sending a mailing to a rental owner requires a temporary password to be created and sent by email.

Read through the rental owner's Welcome letter mailing template. Make changes as needed so your letter fits your company. It's best to leave the instructions on how to sign in as written.
- Generate the Welcome letter as a mailing.

Send the mailing to your rental owners.

Sign in as a rental ownerShow
If you'd like to see what an owner is seeing when they log in, any administrator has the option to sign in as a rental owner. This option is only available if the rental owner has been invited to the rental owner website already.
To sign in as a rental owner:
- Navigate to Rentals > Rental owners.
- Click on the rental owner's name.
- On rental owner's summary page, locate the Rental owner website section.
- Click the Sign in as user link.
The website will open in a new window. You will be signed in as the rental owner without need for a password.
Reset a rental owner's passwordShow
If you change the email address for the rental owner, there's no need to reset the password. The rental owner will retain the ability to log in with their old password and new email address.
- Navigate to Rentals > Rental owners.
- Click on the rental owner's name.
- On rental owner's summary page, locate the Rental owner website section.
- Click the Reset and email password link.
Buildium will generate a a link and email it to the rental owner so they can initiate the password change.
Block a rental owner from the rental owner websiteShow
Blocking access means that the rental owner will no longer be able to log into your Buildium account and the rental owner website.
Rental owner access is also blocked when all of their properties have been inactivated.
- Navigate to Rentals > Rental owners.
- Click on the rental owner's name.
- On rental owner's summary page, locate the Rental owner website section.
- Click the Block access link.
Blocking a rental owner takes effect immediately.
Unblock a rental owner from the rental owner website so they can sign in againShow
Blocking access means that the rental owner will no longer be able to log into your Buildium account and the rental owner website. This topic assumes that the rental owner has been actively blocked from the rental owner website.
- Navigate to Rentals > Rental owners page.
- Click on the rental owner's name.
- On rental owner's summary page, locate the Rental owner website section.
- Click the Unblock access link.
Unblocking a rental owner takes effect immediately.
